Christmas shopping leading to credit debts
Research has shown that nearly 75% of all holiday gift shoppers will use their credit cards to pay for their gifts. Purchasing goods with a credit card has become a very accepted way to shop. Borrowing money for a high percentage rate is often the only way for people to be able to buy (often expensive) holiday gifts. Unless people have saved up especially for this expensive holiday season it can be pretty hard to deal with the financial implications of Christmas shopping. A survey by the Family Credit Counselling Service has shown that that nearly three quarters of all consumers will be using their credit cards again this year, to pay for their gifts. There is one plus to shopping with a credit card instead of shopping with cash. It is considered to be safer to carry a credit card than it is to carry cash. However there is also a danger that, if people are shopping with a card instead of cash, they will overspend as it is difficult to keep track of credit card payments. People with bad credit often still carry a credit card that they got before the bad credit situation arose. Making sure that you are paying off high interest credit card debts first and not using more than one credit card at a time can help consumers to make sure that their debt situation does not get worse. Debt management companies can help people to resolve their credit card debt situation if things have gotten out of hand. If people apply for debt management help they will have to stop using their cards to not build up more debts. |
