Tips to Generate Good Credit Scores & Maintain It

  1. Make sure your credit history is accurate :
Your credit score rating is highly dependent on your credit history. And so if you credit history shows mistakes arising from identity thefts and frauds, make sure that you report them right away. It could take months or even years before your record is updated so don't waste time. This would ensure that your history is clean and legitimate for a good credit score.
  2. See to it that you pay your bills when it is due :
A good credit score also means that you are a good credit payer. Paying debts promptly gives financial institutions confidence in investing in you and so they could give you a sizeable loan. But if you fail to pay on time, either on purpose or simply because you forgot all about it, it is not going to reflect well on you.
  3. Don't be spendthrift :
Borrow money only when you need it. Use your credit cards only if you are short on cash. The more money you owe, the lower your credit score will be. It always pays to spend only within your means. You credit score relies on that.

  5. Aim to pay your debts fully :
Credit companies give their clients the option to pay only the minimum balance. Some companies facilitate balance transfers. It is fine to avail of these offers. Just make sure that your end goal is to eventually pay off the entire balance of your loan. Moving your debts around is not really paying it off. The longer you keep your debts, the lower your credit score will be.
  6. Close unused credit cards and refrain from opening new ones :
Although you need track record when applying for loans, your strategy in using credit cards should correspond to your credit history. If you have good credit history already, opening up new cards would just lower your score. But if you are a person who owns just one or two cards, then you can apply for one more. Just make sure that you use it properly so that your credit background is enhanced.

Credit scores are really important, especially in this fast-paced world of ours. And remember to use your credit score to your advantage. Get a loan for the most important things in life. What is a good credit score anyway if you don't use it anyway?
